Tasty Thursday: Baking Adventures and Mediterranean Flavors

So I admit that we’ve been eating out a bit more than I’d like to and leftovers have lasted a few more days than I anticipated. We also grilled a meal this week with friends, steak, it was delicious, but doesn’t really go towards the count. But I made a loaf of bread in the last week and admittedly it is the best photo I took of our food from this week.

Freshly baked.

This week’s recipes:

Classic Sandwich Bread – this bread is delicious and super easy to make if you have a KitchenAid with a dough hook. We’ve enjoyed it with butter and jam as well as for lunch sandwiches.

Beef Tacos – this is a family recipe, it’s just ground beef, onions, chili powder, and paprika. We served it with a homemade pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, and avocado.

Peach Bourbon Pie – I made this to go with our grilled steak dinner. It was a simple and delicious recipe! I used store bought pie crust (I don’t normally get along with homemade pie crust, long story). The peaches could have been a bit more ripe, but once mixed with sugar and bourbon, you’d never know. I served it with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream, because it’s always nice to indulge a bit in dessert.

Orzo Salad with Shrimp and Feta – the great thing about this recipe is that you can make it ahead of time. I made it in the afternoon, our dinner plans changed, so we ate it the next day. I doubled the recipe since I had 16 oz of orzo and I thought that 1/2 lb of shrimp sounded a bit low for a meal. Let’s just say we’ll be eating this for a few days, but it’s perfect for a hot day, which we have a few of here in Arizona.

I promise to take more photos of our meals next week.

What did you eat this week? Anything tasty?
